Then in 2011, the Carroll, Iowa office was
opened to serve Western Iowa.
“Between our three offices, we can cover 75
percent of the state of Iowa,” added Chris.
These offices were introduced during an eco-
nomic downturn. The idea was that when
the market picked up, Nelson Electric would
be “ready to go.”“And that’s exactly what hap-
pened,” Jerry said. “The market has turned
around, and our growth has been good.”
Matt Nelson, a Manager and fourth genera-
tion family member at the company, explains
that each office is capable of estimating and
running their own work while still maintain-
ing the ability to share resources and knowl-
edge.
From all of their locations, Nelson Electric
has built a base of satisfied repeat customers
who depend on the quality and service the
company provides. According to Matt, they
have built that reputation by making sure
their employees are well educated, highly
skilled, and exemplify Nelson’s core values.
“We have professional, competent, long term
employees,” Matt said. “We create a good
working environment where we treat them
with integrity and fairness. In return, they
deliver service that exceeds expectations.”
Traditionally, a lot of that service has taken
place in the design / build realm, where Nel-
son Electric is involved very early on in the
construction process, taking care of custom-
ers all the way from “project statement to
punch list” – all while keeping it in budget.
Jerry says the budget part is particularly val-
ued by the market. He says Nelson Electric
has been successful for so many years – and
