Currently, the company is almost finished
building Genco 634 – a 12-storey com-
mercial office tower located in the heart of
downtown Calgary totalling 67,000 square
feet. The building includes suite sizes of
1,337 square feet, as well as a fitness facility
and retail space on the main floor.
GDC commissioned Omicron – who they
had worked with multiple times since 2011
– to design and construct the building. Omi-
cron provided a fully integrated develop-
ment service that combined architecture, in-
terior design, engineering, and construction
expertise. They started work on the tower in
February 2014 and expect to have it com-
pleted and ready for owners by mid-August.
According to Bedi, the biggest challenge
GDC and Omicron faced on the project was
the spatial limitation. The site was relatively
small considering its ambition, and it’s con-
nected to “Calgary +15,” a pedestrian sky-
