transportation, and otherwise operate “by
instinct.”
“We look at the site, and if we think we can it
turn it into something, we do,” he said.
When evaluating opportunities, GDC
doesn’t just look at Calgary. Over the years,
they have also worked in Edmonton, Red
Deer, Grande Prairie, Okotoks, Tuscany,
Country Hills, and Shepard.
“We look at retail sites throughout Alberta,”
Bedi explained.
The company’s biggest projects will likely
continue to be in or near Calgary, however.
For example, they currently have 280 acres
of raw land at a prime location, “North
Stoney Greens.” They aim to develop a mas-
ter planned community which will comprise
roughly 530,000 square feet of retail space,
and include roughly 9,000 residential units
– a mix of apartments, townhouses, and
standalone homes.
