land would learn about our cuisine and the
history behind it and be able to enjoy it as
part of visiting Saint Lucia. It may not be
something that is out there, but we want our
tourism product to be different, we want
an all-embracing tourism product. In tour-
ism, we’re looking at expanding our plans, in
terms of the number of rooms, total rooms
– we have some of the award-winning hotels
here, but we need to have more. Air lifts is
another thing that we’re looking at. And in
manufacturing, we want to raise the level in
manufacturing, we’re moving onto innova-
tion here and smart money manufacturing,
technology-driven manufacturing, looking
at our unique features and seeing howwe best
re-package those things. The award-winning
products that we already have in terms of spa
treatments, as well as the traditional medi-
cines, we need to now encourage more and
more investment in non-traditional sectors.
BW:
Can you talk about if there are there
any particular success stories that you’ve
had? Businesses that you’ve attracted there
that have done well and provided for the na-
tion?
HYACINTH-WELLS:
With the NDC,
the National Development Corporation, be-
fore, we had a number of factories in cloth-
ing, based on the free-trade agreements,
