You mentioned some incentives to
businesses to come do business there. What
are some things that the government is be-
hind, or the private sector is behind to try to
attract interest from overseas?
HYACINTH-WELLS:
We have some tar-
geted sectors – for us, critically, the infra-
structure sector. We’re actually seeing that
Saint Lucia’s infrastructure needs a push.
Our infrastructure – main roadways, main
airways, entry into the country, movement
into the country – was built in the late
1970s, early 1980s. We’re in 2014 now, so
there’s need for investment there. So we’re
looking at investment in the airports, sea-
ports, investment in road infrastructure, cre-
ating new communities. Our population has
been growing fair – not as much as we would
like it, but with the amount of tourists that
we get, we believe that these opportunities
actually increase the stay-over arrivals, if we
are able to have more facilities that actually
cater to more tourists. So, as an extension
to the tourism sector, we’re seeing that we
actually have to expand our infrastructure,
looking at the road network, creating that
buzz around other communities which have
been very silent for a while, but there’s op-
portunities where you can see the ocean, the
benefits from the ocean, where you have this
large area where you can go and set up and
