nia, New Jersey, Vermont, New Hampshire,
Connecticut, and Massachusetts, W.M.
Schultz aims to promote safety awareness
and strives for zero incident performance
to keep its workforce safe, productive and
competitive. It is this dedication to contin-
ued improvement which saw them receive
the 2014 Associated General Contractors of
America (AGC) New York State Safety Ex-
cellence Award which recognizes excellent
safety practices in the field while exceeding
industry standards.
For Safety Manager Troy Rose, it’s about
educating internally and arming employees
with proper safety training.
“We offer our employees a great deal of in-
ternal training. Our Foreman and Super-
intendents are required to hold 30 hours
OSHA certifications and we have several in-
dividuals who are First-Aid and CPR certi-
fied. We also regularly conduct task specific
training depending on the scope of work and
job needs. Additionally, we have developed
a relationship with several industry groups
including The Associated Building Con-
tractors (ABC) and the Empire State AGC
along with several supporting groups we uti-
lize for additional training needs.”
