ceilings – to name just a few of the project’s
many unique features.
“Everything was exposed,” Matt says. “We
spent a huge amount of time with the archi-
tect, design team, and our key subcontrac-
tors to make sure all the mechanical, all the
electrical, and all the fire services were per-
fectly laid out. This job was being built to say,
basically, ‘This is how you do it.’ This is the
benchmark in the industry for all the future
trades.”
The project was also unique for how far it
came, Matt adds.
“When we first started here, this place
was derelict,” he says. “It was like something
out of another world. There was a basement
structure, that when we first came here, the
Special Tasks and Rescue Force used to use
for training. It was like something out of a
scary movie, and it was quite daunting.”
“We used to walk around and think ‘Oh
my gosh, how could this ever be what it is
now?’” he continues. “But we took little bits
of it at a time, we worked through, and we
eventually got there. The vision of the client
and the design group was exceptional, and
we delivered it.”
