The retail chain of Target is hoping to hit
a bull’s eye in the wireless services mar-
ket with the launch of Brightspot, a new
prepaid wireless service accommodated
through a deal between the retail giant
and T-Mobile. Whether a consumer wants
to buy a new mobile device from Target’s
inventory or simply prefers to keep their
existing device, the Brightspot plan (with
T-Mobile as carrier) can be purchased and
it allows for unlimited talk, text and web
with up to a gigabyte of 4G data on T-
Mobile’s network for as little as $50 per
month (or $35 per month is you don’t need
data). What’s more, there’s no annual
contract. Brightspot is anticipated to bol-
ster sales in the already growing pre-paid
mobile market. Industry studies indicate
that more than 30% of cell phone users
are now paying for services in advance,
an increase of more than ten percent over
the previous year. And in this case, for ev-
ery six months of paid service, consumers
will earn a $25 Target giftcard, an incen-
tive that makes a Brightspot all the more
brilliant.
