respond to needs relating to its fleet of ve-
hicles. The center is capable of providing
service and maintenance repairs to engines
as well as electric/hydraulic wheelchair and
cargo lifts, ambulance cots, emergency light-
ing and signaling devices, and other spe-
cialized equipment. Today, beyond its own
fleet, TCI provides preventive maintenance
as well as timely and guaranteed repair ser-
vices for a variety of commercial fleets in the
West-Central Indiana area.
For all its technological and automo-
tive engineering prowess, for all its emphasis
on emergency medical service training, ac-
counting accuracy and regulatory compli-
ance, Trans-Care is a company whose success
has been fostered by a commitment to serve
people in need. As Ward says, “We’re a peo-
ple driven company.” The response to duty
has provided a critical difference in the sav-
ing of lives in any number of emergency situ-
ation, whether roadside accident or during
the massive flooding which swept through
this corridor of Indiana some years ago,
prompting patient evacuations at area nurs-
ing homes and hospital. “Facilities typically
practice for the potential of these events, but
sometimes those practices don’t help when
the water has risen to six inches deep in every
room,” says Ward. Trans-Care took a leading
role during those emergency evacuations,
but continues to lead in preparedness for any
emergency which may be encountered.
In terms of the future, Ward says the com-
pany is “always interested” in growing and
expanding its services where it can utilize its
expertise, apply its vision and values, build
partnerships by integrating with custom-
ers and providers for the benefit of patients,
and leverage its technology into providing
custom solutions with superior scheduling
software for major medical centers. He says
“maybe one day” Trans-Care will consider
opportunities beyond its current horizons,
but for now, there are sufficient opportuni-
ties in Indiana to keep it busy for awhile ...
“Trans-Care doesn’t care about being the
biggest service provider - it only cares about
being the best.”
