BUSINESSWORLD:
Do you think you're
going to get back to pre-recession
membership numbers? Is it trending
upward at all?
KEVIN BROOM:
Well, the industry
consolidated, and so, we probably won't.
Who knows, there could be some start-ups
and that kind of stuff that will push the
number back up, but there were some con-
solidations. There are fewer manufacturers
now, and in fact, I'm sure that there are
fewer suppliers. But, again, a lot of that is
consolidation. Our total production is back
to where it was pre-recession, just being
done by fewer companies.
BUSINESS WORLD:
Is there a typical
type of member in terms of the entities that
you deal with? Is there a typical or most
frequent?
BROOM:
The companies that are
members are manufacturers – they make
RVs, and then, we have supplier members
that make components that are used in
makingRVs.
BUSINESS WORLD:
Are the suppliers
the bulk of the membership? Or do you
havemoremanufacturers?
BROOM:
In terms of total numbers, there
aremore suppliers thanmanufacturers.
BUSINESS WORLD:
Are there other
national organizations that are similar and
you compete with? Or are you the only
game in town?
BROOM:
We're pretty much it when it
comes to the RV manufacturers. There's a
dealers' association, but that is for dealers,
not makers. They're a sort of sibling
association, if youwill.
BUSINESS WORLD:
Do you feel that
you do one thing in particular -- education,
legislative advocacy, networking, etc. – that
will drivemembers toward you?
BROOM:
I wouldn't say there's one thing.
We have a lot of different things that we
offer formembers, and I'mnot going to brag
too much, but I think our members would
say we do a pretty good job at everything we
