Games: Catching Fire, The Walking Dead,
42: The Jackie Robinson Story, and Selma;
the list continues. Georgiahas quietly be-
come one of the leading states in the country
for film production, trailing only California,
New York and Texas.
“We’re home to a number of studios, back-
lots, and sound stages that I don’t think the
general public is necessarily mindful of,” Bas-
tian says. “Paramount Pictures, EUE/Screen
Gems, and Tyler Perry Studios all have pro-
duction facilities in Atlanta. In fact, last sum-
mer, there were 43 film productions happen-
ing over the course of the year.”
The Atlanta Better Building Challenge:
Making Commercial Buildings Work
In 2011, President Obama introduced the
Better Buildings Initiative to make commer-
cial buildings 20% more energy efficient by
2020,while accelerating private sector invest-
ment in energy efficiency. As one of the first
three cities in America to pilot the challenge,
Atlanta affirmed its dedication to energy and
water reduction in commercial buildings
while working towards becoming a more
sustainable city. Now, entering the Chal-
lenge’s fourth year, the initiative has proven
to be a resounding success with more than
