among other things. That starts with provid-
ing clients with very detailed drawings, so they
know exactly what they are supplying them
with and that it’s in line with their exact require-
ments. It continues with the usage of only high
quality materials – which isn’t necessarily as
straightforward as it sounds.
“In the market now, there’s an awful lot of
material coming in from offshore that is very
economical in terms of pricing, but that comes
with a tremendous amount of challenges in
terms of quality,” Dave explains – and those
challenges are sometimes only apparent in
time, and not up-front.
“That’s a challenge our industry faces,” he
says. “When a project is just completed, you
might not see the problems. But over time, ma-
terials are cracking, shrinking, warping, twist-
ing, and turning – a year later, there can be
all sorts of evidence that something has gone
wrong with a product.”
Midwest Millwork has combated that chal-
lenge by being diligent about their research
and also by calling on their experience. If a
product has turned out to be unreliable in the
past, they will not use it again.
