dium – and continue to attract business and
investment in other ways as well.
One of those ways is through the activities of
Winston-Salem Business Inc, a separate or-
ganization supported by the city, the county,
and the private sector.That organization rec-
ognizes the importance of entrepreneurship,
and promotes Winston-Salem and Forsyth
County as an excellent business location. It
also provides customer service to clients and
consultants interested in locating businesses
to the community.
“That’s really our recruitment arm for the
community,” Mayor Joines explained.
“Since 2000, we began rebuilding the econ-
omy based around knowledge industries,
financial services, medicine, bio-medicine,
information technologies, advanced manu-
facturing, and travel and tourism,” he added.
“We’ve started what we hope is a strong en-
trepreneurial culture here inWinston-Salem
that will encourage new technology start-
ups and growth.”
