It was then, in 1979, that Kearns decided to
travel the world, including completing work
in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon returning
to Toronto in 1982, it was time to establish
their studio as Kearns Mancini Architects.
“In 1984, Tony Mancini became a registered
architect and he and I were able to incor-
porate Kearns Mancini Architects,” Kearns
explained. “We built our practice up from
small projects to build a portfolio, so at the
beginningwewere doing additions to houses,
renovations, and small commercial projects.
Over the course of time, our projects grew
and grew, and we began to acquire repeat cli-
