However, at the Royal Gleno-
ra Club, they do not believe on
resting on their laurels. They
recognize that to maintain their
legacy, they need to continue to
evolve and impress Edmonton’s
growing population. To remain
one of the city’s most sought-af-
ter destinations, they need up-
dated programming, state-of-
the-art services, and renovated
facilities. With that in mind, their
membership recently voted in
favour of a spending resolution
to allow the club to spend up to
$30 million on a major redevel-
opment project.
That project – called the
#2021Project or the Redevelop-
ment Project – aims to bring the
club into its next phase of life,
just in time for its 60th anniver-
sary. The goal is to celebrate
that anniversary by “ensuring
the club will stay current and
vital for another 60 years,” ac-
cording to Dustin McAvoy, the
club’s Chief Executive Officer.
Dustin has personally been with
the Royal Glenora Club since
October of 2015, when the
Board of Directors hired him as
the club’s first CEO. He comes
from a background of sports
and leisure management, and
has worked overseas for many
years with several hotels and
resorts brands. His first expe-
rience with a private member
club was in Hong Kong, where
he served as the Operations
Manager of The American Club
for over four years.
