At a 1997 oil show in Houston, Texas, Hy-Lok Cor-
poration – a company based in Busan, South Korea –
were looking for a North American distribution part-
ner. With their corporate brass in tow, they found a
match. After establishing a contract and distribution
channels, Hy-Lok Canada was formed in 1997.
A master Canadian distributor based out of Edmon-
ton, Alberta, Hy-Lok Distribution provides a com-
plete line of tube and pipe fittings, valves, tubing,
gauges and instrumentation products for fluid con-
trol requirements. A central hub for all import and
distribution throughout Canada, the Edmonton Al-
berta operation is flanked by six additional branch
locations throughout the country – one in Ontario
and one in British Columbia, along with two mobile
inventories keep the 28 employees busy.
Rick Drolet, Canadian Sales Manager of Hy-Lok
Canada, and has a storied history with the company.
“At the time of inception it was private ownership,
and still is to this day,” Drolet said. “I started with Hy-
