is focused on the future. Since the incep-
tion of their Navigate Entrepreneurship
Centre in 2004, Grenfell has been work-
ing with new and potential entrepreneurs
in the pre-start up phase of business de-
velopment. The Centre, a joint project
between Grenfell and the College of the
North Atlantic, is designed to grow en-
trepreneurship in Western Newfoundland
& Labrador by helping potential entre-
preneurs connect with the resources they
need, whatever those might be. So far the
Centre has played an integral role in the
creation of a whopping 41 diverse busi-
nesses, among them a sushi restaurant, a
physiotherapy clinic, an art gallery, and
even an award-winning band. Since Me-
morial is the province’s only university,
Grenfell feels an acute commitment and
obligation to the continued growth and
success of Newfoundland & Labrador. It
is the same commitment Corner Brook it-
self has shown, a commitment to tradition
and progress; to conservation and devel-
opment; and to being a rural community
with big ideas and a bright future.
