izing he was in the business, he needed to
quickly run in and grow it like he did all his
other successful businesses. Spiezio then saw
a niche and began to consider just howmany
require these services, from private business-
es and commercial centers to construction
sites and residential properties. As Spiezio
says “everyone generates garbage.”
In growing his service, Spiezio consid-
ered his own standards as a customer. He de-
termined to grow the company by delivering
on the very expectations that he, as well as
others have. Spiezio says toomany companies
are only fulfilling waste collection as a mean
to move into landfill operations, thereby ne-
gating the needs of customers who depend
on waste collection. “They don’t care about
their customers,” says Spiezio. “At my com-
pany, we pride ourselves on customer service.
That means, regardless of the schedule, if you
need a container today, you get it today. If
you need service today, you get it today.”
Spiezio has invested in the range of
containers and receptacles, as well as fleet
resources, to now accommodate front-load,
rear-load or roll-off requirements essential to
fulfilling commercial, residential and non-
hazardous industrial services.
Spiezio’s enterprise currently caters to
more than 25,000 customers throughout
Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Coun-
ties in New York, and Fairfield County in
Connecticut. Service is presently divided
among the business entities of R&S Waste
Services, Can Man Sanitation and Compe-
tition Carting, however, that will all soon
change. Spiezio is preparing to brand the
companies under one corporate identity
known as Waste Services of America, Corp.
