ing. Otherwise, Voyer says the company has
also identified other oils, which they will
convert into their products, thereby further
diminishing the need for petroleum. “These
products will bemore environmentally clean,
not necessarily economically less, but better
for the environment ... and they are just as
durable as anything made from bitumen. We
will not compromise on performance and
quality. We know our industry and are opti-
mistic that will find more solutions.”
Voyer says he has observed some compa-
nies claim to be doing sustainable develop-
ment as a marketing ploy, but when looking
deeply into their operations, the claims “are
weak.” At SOPREMA, Voyer says the com-
pany is not only talking the talk, but walking
the walk. This is evidenced in their applica-
tion long-serving or recoverable product
materials, their significant investment in
research and development, and their track
record of introducing products that are eco-
logically safe. Voyer says the company’s goal
at present involves the creation of solutions
that would allow for a 100 year life span to
projects where their materials are applied.
He envisions a range of solutions deployed
