NEW TO NEW ORLEANS
The Clean Show has a unique history that
began in the 1970's. During an economic
downturn, it became apparent that attend-
ing multiple conventions across the nation
(or across the world) was costly and heavily
demanding for both exhibitors
and business owners. Three as-
sociations joined together to
create one giant convention,
and then soon after three more
associations jumped in to form
World Educational Congress for Laundering
and Dry-cleaning. They held the first Clean
Show in 1975. Due to the changing nature
of the show and its unique infrastructural re-
quirements, the show has moved to different
cities over time. It began in Chicago where it
was held four times, before moving to Dal-
las, thenOrlando or Las Vegas, but nowNew
Orleans.
After the show there is still plenty to do
and much to explore in New Orleans. The
NewOrleans Metropolitan Convention and
Visitors Bureau recommend picking up a
free travel brochure from your hotel to learn
about the different restaurants and event
areas across the city. Southern Living maga-
zine has proclaimed New Orleans to be “one
of the top ten tastiest towns in the south.”
Home to the world-famous French Quarter,
New Orleans is a city with jazz music on ev-
ery corner, with river-view cafes and exotic
flea markets. Three specific travel brochures
