er. Should a suspect attempt to flee, police
can fire the GPS tracker which is equipped
with an adhesive that allows it to stick to the
suspect’s car. This enables the vehicle to be
tracked and followed with mapping software
from a safe distance as opposed to a danger-
ous high-speed chase. According to studies
conducted by the National Highway Traf-
fic Safety Administration, some 360 people
are killed each year because of such chases.
StarChase has also revealed findings that
claim suspects will typically slow to within
ten miles of a posted speed limit once their
vehicles have been tagged and police disen-
gage. Affordabilitymay prompt some depart-

installation costs $5,000 per vehicle and
$500 per replacement GPS tracker.
