the first of the three hotels on the site – the
Rose Hall Beach Hotel – opened in May
2007. The other two were under construc-
tion when the first one opened, and the Rose
Hall Suites was next to open its doors in Oc-
tober 2008, followed three months later by
the Grand Hotel Rose Hall in January 2009.
About 1,300 employees work on the
property as a whole, with some departments
– including the administration, mainte-
nance, human resources, purchasing and
laundry functions – working for all three
hotels. Each facility has specific personnel,
too, meaning Hofer oversees three executive
chefs, three maître ds, three food and bever-
age managers, three general managers, three
assistant managers and three housekeeping
managers, among others.
“It makes it, on one hand, a little more
cost-efficient to have some departments ca-
tering to each hotel, and some are catering
to all three hotels,” he said. “We have simi-
lar structure at properties in Mexico and the
Dominican Republic, and it has worked out
very well.”
