Karan has both a Bachelor’s and
Master’s degree in Hotel Man-
agement from the University
of Sydney, and has personally
worked in the hospitality indus-
try for more than 20 years. His
career has taken him all over
the world – everywhere from
Australia, to South Africa, to Eu-
rope and the Middle East. He
was drawn to his current role by
the prospect of working in Haiti,
which he believed would be an
interesting challenge.
Two years ago, in June 2017,
Karan became General Manag-
er of the Best Western Premier
Pétion-Ville. Since then, he has
overseen an era of enhance-
ment and evolution. Over the
last two years, the hotel has
upgraded both their services
and their amenities. They have
introduced new mobile appli-
cations and promotions, redec-
orated their restaurant, refur-
bished several rooms, launched
a brand new shisha lounge,
added capacity to their ban-
quet hall, increased the size of
their swimming pool, and much
more.
“We’ve made a lot of changes
to make the client experience
as satisfying as possible,” Karan
says.
Many of these upgradeswere in-
spired and informed by Karan’s
experience working in hospital-
ity overseas, but almost none
of them were simple to imple-
ment. As Karan predicted, work-
ing in Haiti comes with several
