venue earn a reputation as one of the premier
parks in the entire Southern League.
“I went to every ball park and I got some
stuff out of Memphis, El Paso and I looked
at a bunch of newer minor league ball parks,”
he said. “When we finally got the mayor to
build the best ball park, it turned out beauti-
ful.”
“We’re very fortunate the way the park
turned out, Bragan continued. “It turned out
nice and there’s not a bad seat in it. The day
it opened it looked like a timely ballpark and
now, 12 years later, it still looks like a brand
new ballpark. Has that wonderful character
with the brick and the green paint and green
iron work and green trimmed seats.”
MORE THAN THE SCORE
Outfitted with a natural grass field, the Base-
ball Grounds feels like a nostalgic journey
for any baseball fan - new or old. Working
hard to maintain the family friendly experi-
ence is a crew of 16 people made up of one
full-time groundskeeper, one full-time direc-
tor of operations and a host of others who
have a hand in game day preparation.
“They do everything,” Bragan Jr. said.
“They’re the ones who make me look good;
you have these kids who are enthusiastic to
