ing better, our philosophy remains the same.
We are cognizant of not making a short-term
problem worse”.
Lober offers another example in the
plight of a local company whose absentee-
owner was on the verge of closing the opera-
tion down unless local people were willing it
to buy it, and buy it fast. Dozens of people
stood on the precipice of losing jobs that
had been maintained for years. In a matter of
days, Consumers National Bank diligently
planned and produced a financing package
that allowed an employee to purchase the
company. Today, the company has expanded
and is producing industrial goods which are
being sold to other manufacturers through-
out the country and is doing very well. “We
saw a viable employer that was important to
the community and our management and
board went into action,” recalls Lober.
He has many similar stories he can share.
He recalls the bank’s role in helping another
enterprise which grew into a nationally rec-
ognized business. “One of the early investors,
now retired, tells people, ‘When I needed to
make an investment, Consumers National
Bank was here for me.’ You can’t get better
advertising than that,” laughs Lober.
