ATTRACTING BUSINESSES
Besides sustainability, Conception Bay South has
also invested into the economic development of
the town through the construction of The Gate-
way. The Gateway is a 100 acre development which
is being marketed to attract new businesses. The
Gateway is also the site of the Town’s new stadium
which is under construction. As Mayor French
points out, “You have to meet the needs of busi-
nesses as best as you can to get companies to invest
in our town.”Therefore along with the Gateway, the
town alsoprovides tax incentives to help startups or
expanding businesses in the area. The Conception
Bay South industrial park on Fowlers Road is yet
another project where serviced land is ready to be
sold to businesses, with high demand for the initial
phases. Lastly, Mayor French is also quick to give
credit to the council and staff supporting these ini-
tiatives and coming up with innovative ways to in-
crease sustainability and development of Concep-
tion Bay South. The proximity of the town with the
capital has also proved advantageous in increasing
population growth along with efficient transpor-
tation networks and the allure of good weather.
Mayor French goes on to conclude, “Here at Con-
ception Bay South, we are a forward looking com-
munity committed to sustainability and helping
our residents with improvement in amenities.”
