“This will give us more responsibility in our
own safety, so we’re really happy about doing
that.”
REAL-LIVE MONITORING
Seamless, the technological advancements
are also helping to efficiently and effective-
ly deal with patient care after the air-transit
phase is completed. Whether it is the elec-
tronic chart portion which allows for bill-
ing to be easily shared between AlStar and
the facility they’re bringing the patient, or
a change in a patient’s electrocardiogram
(EKG), the real-time advantage is a crucial
catalyst in providing life-saving support.
“Wemonitor our patients on 12-lead EKG’s,”
Weaver said. “If we have a patient that has a
significant cardiac event, we have the capabil-
ity of transmitting the real-live 12-lead EKG
to the CATH lab that we’re going to by the
push of a button, while we’re in the air.”
“We transmit the EKG, so it goes not just
to the CATH lab but the emergency physi-
cian and the charge nurse so that everybody
knows and there are no surprises when we ar-
rive with these critical patients.”
