Dear Reader,
We’re proud to present to you the January 2015 edition of Business World Magazine. As always, we’re elated to share
stories about industry-leaders, award winners, as well as up-and-coming companies who have extremely bright fu-
tures ahead of them.
Headlining this issue is Sandy Lane Hotel &Resort, Barbados’ Leading Resort. We had the opportunity to speak with
Mario Bevilacqua Von Gunderrode, Resident Manager, about the hotel’s many World Travel Awards, their continu-
ing efforts to upgrade and improve, and a brand new green initiative they’re working diligently towards implementing
Vancouver-based architecture firm Patkau Architects are also featured this month. We cover all the bases with co-
founder John Patkau; from their history spanning more than 35 years of architecture excellence, to their recent Gov-
ernor General’s Medal in Architecture awarded for their magnificent Tula House project.
From there, we focus in on Prycon Custom Buildings and Renovations Inc based out of Barrie, Ontario. The high-end
commercial and residential renovator won multiple awards for their work in 2014, and founders Matt and Stephen
Pryce explain how Prycon goes above and beyond to deliver their clients dream projects. In addition, they detail some
of their many philanthropic endeavours over the years, and share their plans for the future.
Serving up the only the best, Cheese Curds Gourmet Burgers + Poutinerie is an exciting gourmet food franchise based
out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. With new franchises coming in 2015, Owner and Chef Bill Pratt spoke with us about
what makes Cheese Curds a unique franchise, as well as his strategies for expansion, and how they’re trying to bring
more efficiency to the quick service industry.
Award-winning electrical contractors Helix Electric also feature in this issue. With locations across the United States,
