This year marks the 40th Anniversary of
Gold Coast Transit, the public transpor-
tation bus service crucial to commuters
throughout the Southern California com-
munity of Oxnard as well as the surrounding
areas of westernVenturaCounty. Established
in 1973 as a joint powers authority emerging
from an agreement between the communi-
ties of Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, San
Buenaventura and the County of Ventura,
it was initially known as South Coast Area
