Letter from the Editor
It is a new year, and with it comes our unwavering wishes for your continued success and support as we proudly
present our January issue, our first edition of 2013.
During this season, there are so many who suddenly resolve commitment to some form of resolution, as if the
turning of the calendar actually compelled the need to make necessary improvements. These societal tendencies
provokes recall of something once said by writer John Burroughs, in terms of all the resolutions made, the one
he always strived to keep was “to rise above little things.”
On some level, it makes sense that resolutions help refocus attention to making adjustments in order to more
effectively rise above the would-be or whatever. Ironically, and quite unintentional, this so happens to be a
reoccurring theme within many of the stories this month. In detailing how these businesses rose above competi-
tion to become leaders in their industry, as well as leading investment opportunities, they share aspects of their
commitment to self-improvement, repurposing, reinvigoration and overcoming challenges. Their attention to
little things has helped yield large returns, and not only in revenues, but respect. We think you’ll appreciate
this insight because it offers beneficial lessons to all in business. The resolve to change when change is needed is
not so much the fact of a new year, but integral to the daily business among successful businesses.
For that matter, our organization has also benefitted from improvements by adding new staff, content and re-
sources that will further expand on the quality of services we provide to readers and advertisers who have been
so supportive of our mission. Our resolution is to maintain our role as the leading online resource of business
information and news covering every corridor of industry. We’re excited about the opportunities in this new
year of operation and look forward to your feedback as we move forward.
