late. The third guy, Jim Bodden, owned a
company called One Day Painting. He came
in and something was different,” he says.
Bodden told Scudamore the same
thing 1-888-WOW-1DAY! Painting tells all
their customers today – his prices are com-
petitive, his quality is better than the compe-
tition, and he gets his jobs done in a day. Scu-
damore was intrigued, and hired him. When
he came home on the day of painting, he
found that “from floor to ceiling, from the
moldings to the trim, everything was done
immaculately, and the house was spotless.”

I looked at the business and saw an
opportunity,” Scudamore says. “I approached
Jim and asked if he was interested in chatting
about franchising, and a couple months later
we had a deal.”

I found it by accident,” he adds. “I
found it as a customer. And what got me ex-
cited is we could revolutionize a very mom
and pop industry by adding a service offering
to the business that was completely different
to what anyone else was doing – getting it
done in a day, with no compromise in qual-
ity or change in price.”
