the next couple of years off, a time in which
he spent trying to find a caregiver for one of
his family members. “Ken also did the same
thing – he had some crazy experiences trying
to help one of his family members,” DeHart
says.
For both DeHart and Sim, the search
proved challenging. A caregiver DeHart
hired for his grandmother, who had Al-
zheimer’s, turned out to be stealing from
her and failing to show up on time. “That
opened our eyes to home care. This indus-
try was really backwards,” he says. “This was
something where I could change the world
or at least change people’s lives for the bet-
ter.”
MORE THAN HEALTHCARE
When Nurse Next Door first started, their
objective was to change the industry that
was no longer viable. Over the last decade, it
became apparent to DeHart and Sim where
