road, we could more easily implement that
infrastructure for our clients.
LEEDING THE WAY
HH Angus and Associates Limited recently
finished working on a number of new proj-
ects that just opened to the public, including
two hospitals that have reached LEED sta-
tus. For a long time, hospitals didn’t have a
standard to follow for LEED because LEED
was primarily for commercial buildings,”
Halpenny says.
“Ontario’s North Bay Regional Health
Centre has been LEED certified, and we’ve
also just opened up Royal Jubilee Hospi-
tal in Victoria, B.C., which has achieved
LEED Gold certification.” The company
is currently working on renovations for the
Toronto-Dominion Centre, which consists
of the first three skyscrapers built in the city
in the 1960s. The 100 Wellington Tower
has been certified LEED Platinum, and the
Centre itself is LEED Gold. “We were the
original systems designers for the Centre,
and we convinced them that in this current
upgrade, they needed to change the glass on
the outside of the building to a thermal pane
