Victoria Police has issued a warning for people to avoid a man who they believe is violent and has access to guns.

It is alleged 37-year-old Glenroy-area man Omar Aboueid repeatedly punched his girlfriend in the head then continued the assault as he drove her around Coburg and Reservoir for the next eight to 10 hours.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and police say he is dangerous, violent and has access to firearms.

Senior Constable Dennis Cunha says the woman suffered serious facial injuries in the incident, which took place on December 6.

“The actual assault was quite vicious. To put it in perspective this male is six foot, four inches tall and weighs over ninety kilos,” he said.

“He has got a very solid build and our victim is quite petit.”

Police are appealing for witnesses.
